South African ICT practitioners are some of the most highly skilled entrepreneurs and professionals in the world, often creating innovative technologies that changes industries and lives by fully exploiting the possibilities that ICT has to offer. Our people are intelligent and talented with a level of competitiveness unmatched by any other nation. Having said that, the new series of ICT initiatives is a 'call to action' for our tech community to achieve more.
Our featured project is mytech, a new collaboration platform for aspiring and practicing technologists to learn through accessing and contributing to a knowledge base and participating in projects for improving personal and professional development. An initiative to help overcome the current ICT skills shortage in SA.

Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.
We often hear enterprise execs say that people are their most valuable asset and that they are taking better care of their employees, yet job satisfaction is alarmingly low and workers are still unhappy. So before we can talk about encouraging the growth of our local ICT economy, we have to make a serious effort to secure our own personal growth as the real drivers of change.
Inventions and innovations are regular occurrence and no longer breakthroughs, which implies that the transformation process is continuous. This reinforces cultural change in which each of us must adapt in our own individual way.
To develop a culture that encourages and rewards freedom of independent thought and expression, we must actively contribute to change initiatives that are about the people and not technology, systems or processes.
This highlights the importance of integrating ideas and perspectives across traditional boundaries of viewpoint, practice, and discipline to provide a process for improving and a means for measuring higher order thinking skills.
This is our joint contribution to development in South Africa while being enriched with the joys of morale and team spirit, and of course some well deserved and overdue rewards in cash, goods and services. Our ICT competition will be the first of many industry challenges.
Accessing information is no longer a challenge; it is being able to select credible sources and use relevant information for a purpose.
Bearing that in mind, users will be instructed to do numerous internet-based activities over a period of time. Thousands of prizes will be awarded as well as certificates for various achievements.
